Wayne went to summer camp for writers July 25- Aug 3. He was so excited to go on his first writers residency on the remote Norton Island, off the coast of Maine, run by the Eastern Frontier Educational Foundation.
Wayne can’t imagine a more wholesome, creative and validating experience for artists than this volunteer-run residency. He is thankful for the new friendships, for levelling up his craft, and just a great time.
The nature of this program is straightforward, even rudimentary. This is a remote, rustic wilderness, with facilities to accommodate a select group of residents who sometimes share their work after dinner but are otherwise there to work uninterrupted. The environment is beautiful, extreme and unadorned.
In 2000, the Eastern Frontier Educational Foundation was founded as a nonprofit and developed the Norton Island Residency for Writers & Artists to create an ideal place for writers to write, artists to paint and sculpt, and musicians to compose.
