Wayne was thrilled that CBC Ottawa’s ALL IN A DAY BOOK CLUB, hosted by the extraordinary Alan Neal, chose JOHNNY DELIVERS as their October read!
Wayne couldn’t have asked for a better celebration of stories, community, and seriously groovy vibes. It was a far-out book club extravaganza filled with egg rolls, book talk, and some fierce mahjong battles — truly a highlight of his literary career.
🏒💥The evening even included a surprise Zoom call from Dave Keon, legendary captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, joining from Florida. You can see from the video just how blown away Wayne was to hear from his childhood hero.
In Wayne’s award-winning novel LETTERS FROM JOHNNY, young Johnny writes to Dave Keon because, as captain, he can be trusted. In JOHNNY DELIVERS, as Johnny grows older, he turns to Bruce Lee for guidance — but he never forgets Mr. Keon.
